What is Asha Jasmine and how did it come about?
Asha always wore dresses and loved dressing up. She always loved a good party and having a theme to set the tone. Those who knew her can attest to that. She loved Indian outfits with matching bangles and jewelry, shoes, handbags, more shoes and of course anything sparkly, gold and glittery. A retail business showcasing these loves was the only thing that made sense.
As to charity work, after high school when we asked her what did she want to do next, her answer was "I want to go to Africa and work with the orphans there." That was her passion~service for the needy and her volunteer work in various orphanages and community based programs thru elementary school to medical college were highlights in her life. So combining these two passions is our company's mission as a legacy of the kind, compassionate and loving person she was.
WAS JASMINE ASHA's MIDDLE NAME?
No, her middle name is from her paternal grandmother, Sara. In the Asha Jasmine Inc logo, we incorporated her actual signature and trying to come up with a meaningful name to follow took weeks of brainstorming. Finally we settled on Jasmine which is a beautiful white flower found all over India. Jasmine also means "Gift from God". So naturally the name would be great way to showcase her Indian identity and how precious she was to us. But the word Jasmine goes one step further. The letters of the word spells out our family members.
J-Joseph,AS-Asha M-Mia her much loved cousin, I-Ian, her much loved cousin, NE-Nevin her dear brother.
So Jasmine could very well have been Asha's middle name because it denotes all that she held dear, her culture and her family but for us it also epitomizes the divine gift she was to our family.
